Thanksgiving 2010

Being thankful shifts the atmosphere around us for the Lord truly inhabits the praises of His people. How big is your chair? After David was anointed king, he brought the ark of the covenant of the Lord up to Jerusalem, and there he appointed the Levites to regularly give thanks to the Lord. In 1 Chronicles 16, David offers up a psalm of thanksgiving – proclaiming the Lord’s wonderful works, giving honor to His name, remembering His judgments and His covenant, declaring His glory among the nations, praising Him as Creator and King, the one true God, from everlasting to everlasting. David experienced God’s favor and God entered into covenant with David and his generations –promising to establish David’s name as that of the greatest of the land, to establish a place for His people Israel, to establish the kingdom of David’s descendant, to allow him to build the Lord’s house where the Lord would establish his throne forever.

Ps 50:23 says “Whoever sacrifices a thank offering honors Me...” and Ps. 79 looks to the Lord as deliverer and restorer pledging that the offering up of praise to Him would be from generation to generation. Jesus gives us an ideal model (Mark 6:41-44 and 8:6-9) as He looks up to heaven and offers up “Thanksgiving” to God prior to breaking the loaves and feeding thousands. Jesus gave “Thanks” and a tremendous shift took place in the atmosphere that instantaneously changed the circumstance for thousands!

We spent a good portion of the Watch offering up Scripture, prayers, testimonies, song, dance, shouts, claps, joy, and laughter as a “Thanks Offering” to the Lord. Testimonies were shared about miraculous healings and deliverance. We also gathered two-by-two to give witness to each other of at least three things we were thankful for and we prophesied and declared to each other the further fulfillment of all that the Lord had promised to us. This act of thanksgiving reflects the word in Malachi 3:16-18 as follows: Then those who feared the Lord talked with each other and the Lord listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in His presence concerning those who feared the Lord and honored His name. “They will be Mine”, says the Lord Almighty, “in the day when I make up my treasured possession. I will spare them just as in compassion a man spares his son who serves him. And you will again see the distinction between the righteous and the wicked between those who serve God and those who do not”.

We later prayed for America – graciously giving thanks to the Lord for our forefathers, those who gave up their lives and fortunes to follow after the heart of the Lord, and the unction of the Holy Spirit, to establish a place where Jesus would be the nucleus of all things as Lord and King – and thanking Him for those who followed – establishing colleges and other works so that we, as their posterity, would be blessed. We thanked the Lord for peaceful mid-term elections; for our new and current leaders; and for our men and women in uniform serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and in other places around the world. We prayed also for Israel; our economy; and the faithful watchmen around the globe, declaring that the Lord would give them light in Goshen for prosperity and that household salvation would be manifest for healing, deliverance, and miracles.

Other Scriptures:

  Psalm 26, 92, 97, 100, 105, and 146; Mark 5:35-43

Prophetic Words/Dreams/Songs:

  • One watchman kept hearing the school song about Minutemen and the Revolutionary War. Another watchman interpreted it as minute-men - as we must decrease and the Lord must increase to win the war.
  • A watchman dreamt that the Lord was healing the godly foundations of America and that we must not focus on the trauma of recent events but instead look to, and worship, the Healer. He has heard our prayers and is answering!
  • Song given to a watchman during prayers for America – “America, America – God has shed His grace on thee…I love this nation, my country ‘tis of Thee…America, home of the brave and land of the free!”
  • As we were singing, the words began to resound into huge wings over us in the sanctuary. The team sang the verse, “In the shadow of Your wings, we can fly”. God has a promise in those wings according to Malachi 4:2, But for you who revere my name the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall. The more we sang the song, the closer we flew under His wings, and the atmosphere was ripened to release thanksgiving, healing, and prayers for our troops, economy, government, educational system, family, and much more!

Testimonies from Watchmen:

  • Remembering mother’s miraculous healing and deliverance from a wheelchair at a CMI Conference 10 years previous.
  • Remembering deliverance – layer by layer – through Scripture reading, personal prayer time, fellowship with other saints, and corporate gatherings like CMI conferences, the Watch and Sunday services – one life changed that in turn changed others – married now with first baby on the way!
  • Recent healing received through word of knowledge given during Saturday evening session at last Conference. Mahesh called out for those needing transplants and a watchman stood in for a friend whose kidneys had shut down. By Monday, that friend’s kidneys had recovered!
  • Recent discovery of family lineage tracing back 11 generations to one of the organizers of the Mayflower voyage. This ancestor sacrificed all to help others and died shortly before the voyage set sail. This is yet another testimony of how those like Winthrop and Bradford came with their families to settle this nation at risk of life and limb so that a torch would be passed down through the generations. Those initial settlers knew that they may never personally enjoy the freedom that they sought after but they came to build for the sake of posterity. Another unknown founding father – like so many others – to whom we owe a tremendous debt of gratitude!
